Henrik Hanson

Back to talent

Henrik Hanson is a Swedish film editor who loves nothing more than finding the perfect cut. He studied screenwriting at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York, where he developed his storytelling instincts before diving into the world of editing. His career began under the mentorship of Jonas Åkerlund (Lady Gaga feat. Beyoncé: Telephone) and Johan Renck (HBO “Chernobyl”), two of Sweden’s most acclaimed directors, who taught him the art of pacing, visual rhythm, and how to survive on little sleep in the edit suite.

Since then, he’s worked on campaigns for Calvin Klein, Coach, Volvo, Apple, Audi, Samsung, McDonald’s, and Vogue, always aiming to make the edit feel effortless. His recent work includes Lufthansa’s “All It Takes Is a Yes”, a fast-moving, time-bending travel campaign that somehow makes airport connections look magical. He also shaped Vogue’s short film with Alicia Vikander. In Volvo’s “Song of the Open Road”, he took a non-linear, poetic approach, proving that sometimes a car ad can feel more like a short film. And yes, he’s also the guy who edited Justin Bieber’s Calvin Klein campaign—which means he’s had the surreal experience of analyzing way too many close-ups of Bieber’s abs.

Outside of the edit suite, Henrik is a passionate F1 fan, an average (but enthusiastic) tennis player, and follows the stock market as if it were a thriller film. He also has a habit of going to matinées alone, because nothing beats an empty theater and a great movie.

Henrik works fast, loves a good challenge, and is always looking for new ways to shape stories that stick with people. He still gets a little too excited when a transition just clicks, and honestly, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
